Biographical / Historical
Parkland switched from Divisions to Departments in the academic year 1988-1989. Computer Science was previously a part of the Mathematics Departmet and became a separate department after 1994 (see RG 7-7).
As of 2013, the Department included the following degrees and certifications: A.A.S degrees in digital media, microcomputer support specialist, network systems administrator, office professional, programming-database management; A.S. Degree (Transfer); and Certification programs in Computer Animation software, 3D software development, Application Specialist, Basic Website Design and Management, Bookkeeping Office Assistant, Cisco Networking, Information Processing, Linux System Administration, Microcomputer, Microsoft Certified Server Administrator, Network Administration, Network Security Specialist, Office Assistant, Object-Oriented Programming, and Web Programmer.
Beginning Fall 2016, The Department of Computer Science and Technology absorbed the business classes from the former department of Agriculture and Business. Programs now include Accounting, Business Administration, Business Administration Technology, Business Management, Business Marketing, Hospitality, Computer Sciences, Data Systems and Development, Digital Media, Interactive Design, and Network Administration and Support.
